Success! I brought a second detector so he could try his luck. I talked briefly how it worked and he was ready to go. Unfortunately, I found his ring about one minute later. I got a good signal and called him over to see what he could detect. He heard the signal it was giving off and then used the pinpoint to narrow it down. Just a few inches into the sand and we saw something. Sure enough, it was his platinum band.
